Studio Banana Things has just unveiled their newest piece of audio tech. The new audio device named “Batband” offers high-quality sound production through a unique bone conduction system.

This new system uses transducers that release sound waves to the inner ear to eliminate the need of the outer ear to pick up sound. Batband is able to transmit sounds by accessing a certain frequency that allows sounds to be conducted through the bones of the skull.

Essentially, listeners no longer need headphones that enter or close off the ear canal for superior sound performance. Batband simply wraps around the head and utilizes touch-sensing controls for phone calls and audio listening.

The new device has raised more than double its original Kickstarter goal of $150,000, but interested customers can get in on the deal. The Batband costs $149 and has a ship date of April 2016.
