Hammacher-Schlemmer is selling a new simulator that they’re calling the most realistic racing simulator on the market. Ford Motor Company seems to agree because they use the simulator for their own demos.
This model is what Ford uses at auto shows to give car lovers an idea of what it feels like to drive their high-performance cars. Just like the real thing, the simulator features a steering wheel, accelerator, brake, clutch, and two paddle gear shifters.
Using linear servo actuators, the simulator’s monocoque fiberglass chassis can roll, pitch, and rotate 360 degrees at up to 0.5G acceleration. The impressive machine is able to simulate the feeling of taking a turn at 200 MPH, forward pushes when accelerating, rumbling when driving on an apron, and other realistic driving experiences.
Its powerful force-feedback steering system can even generate 10 times the force of other simulators. The simulator offers 12 racecars to choose from and backgrounds for 16 varying courses.
Priced at $185,000 with a triple HD monitor display and 500-watt audio system, it might just be the closest thing to actually strapping in a Ford Shelby Cobra.
