Minnesota’s Most Expensive House Still on the Market After Eight Years and a $30M Reduction

It seems Minnesota might not be the best place to build a mega-mansion. The state’s most expensive home has officially been on the market for eight years. Although selling a multi-million dollar home isn’t always easy or fast, that is an extraordinarily long time for the 32,000-square-foot home to be up for sale.

The Minnesota estate was first listed in September 2007 for $53.5 million. Known as Southways, the historic mansion’s price has dropped quite a bit and is now selling for $24 million. Set on 13 acres of waterfront land along Lake Minnetonka, it was once the summer home of John S. Pillsbury Sr.

The seven-bedroom mansion was built in 1918, and after a major restoration project, now features a 6,000-bottle wine cellar, master suite with dual dressing rooms, carriage house, pool, pool house, tennis court, indoor spa, and a caretaker’s apartment.

With stunning lake views and a character all its own, it looks like the perfect summer vacation home. Here’s to hoping it doesn’t take another eight years to sell.
