New developments in camera technology have opened the doors for amateur videographers everywhere. With the release of the 360fly, filmmakers can capture 360-degree views of everything around them. Using a fish-eye lens, the geometric camera can be mounted to just about anything using its curved and flat baseplates. Starting out in the Carnegie Mellon robotics lab, the Pittsburgh-based company originally only developed cameras for robots.

Perfect for capturing extreme sports, the 360fly records in 1504 by 1504 resolution and can capture 30 frames per second. The smartphone companion app helps users to view, edit, control, and share footage, and the built-in accelerometer sensor helps to keep the device oriented.
