Michigan’s Most Expensive Home Used to Be an Embassy

Michigan’s priciest home is now on the market, and it has an interesting history. Although currently owned by Dr. Thomas Prose, it served briefly as a Czech Republic consulate after Prose deeded his home to the Czech government in 2004. Although it’s no longer performing Czech diplomatic duties, the 16,000-square-foot brick home is currently listed for $14.5 million.

The Northville, Michigan, mansion has 22 rooms and is set on six acres of land. The interior is stacked with luxury amenities including a piano room, movie theater with velvet seats, and a wine cellar sealed by an old bank vault door. Even though it’s been on the market for around 10 months, the price tag has stayed the same. With so many high-end accouterments and an interesting political history, someone is bound to get patriotic and purchase the former Czech property.
