The Swiss-made Pilatus PC-24 twinjet successfully completed its first flight on May 11. Flown by two pilots, the business jet went airborne using less than 2,000 feet of runway and made it to 10,000 feet in around 3 minutes. Departing from Buochs Airport in Switzerland, the bright blue jet is the first Swiss-built business jet and the first jet built by the company, although their turboprops have a successful selling history.

Sold out through 2019 after just 36 hours on the market, the PC-24’s cabin is fit for up to 10 passengers and features a moveable partition to adjust for additional travelers or cargo. The jet’s takeoff and landing functions are perfect for unpaved or short runways, and it can fly up to 2,244 miles.

Reaching speeds up to 489 mph, the new jet is bringing Pilatus so much business that they’re planning to build two additional PC-24 prototypes for flight tests. Certification and deliveries will begin in 2017.

The Pilatus PC-24 has a price tag of $8.9 million.
