The most expensive home on the market in Maine is known as the Grace Estate and has a $9.5 million asking price. It is a property for those who covet privacy, so much so that the only way to access the home is by ferry.

“The home’s in a fantastic setting,” Terry Sortwell, the real estate agent for the home, said. “You drive across a little spit of land to what’s basically your own island.”

The 17-room mansion is located on a tiny island that sits in the waters of Penobscot Bay. The home has eight bedrooms, and despite being built in 1918, has a modern kitchen, thanks to the numerous renovations over the years that kept the 9,000-square-foot house state of the art.

“This is a dramatic and historic property on the coast,” Sortwell said. “For someone who knows the Penobscot area, this is a landmark.”

The secluded island is nine acres in total, all of which belong to the potential buyer of the property. The estate also features a putting green, dock, and pool.
