Zagato and Maserati announced they will be teaming up for the Mostro Concept. The announcement was made during Italy’s annual Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.
The concept car will celebrate 100 years of Maserati, with the design of the vehicle being a throwback to the 1957 Maserati 450 S Coupé Zagato “Monster.” The new Mostro will combine the modern tech and design aesthetics of racecars and roadcars to create a monster fusion.
The plan is to keep weight down by using a carbon fiber bodywork. It was also revealed that the new car would have a central-front V8 engine paired with a six-speed semi-automatic gearbox. The vehicle will sit on 19-inch alloy wheels and will have large disc brakes for premium stopping power.
Maserati and Zagato have announced that they will produce five examples of the Mostro. It was also reported that all five Mostros have already been sold, with deliveries expected by December.
