It was only a matter of time before luxury brands started developing apps for the Apple Watch. One of the first to get in on the action is BMW with the i Remote app.

The BMW i Remote app for the Apple Watch is designed to work with the BMW i series cars, namely the i3 electric car and the i8 plug-in hybrid.

The app can provide basic vehicle information and also allows users to lock and unlock the doors and open and shut the sunroof and back hatch. The app not only provides users with the weather, but also lets them change the climate in the vehicle before they get in.

The app has other useful features, including a reminder that lets users know when it is time to perform routine maintenance on the vehicle.
