Volvo’s successor to the S80, the S90, is designed to compete with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5 Series.
The car has yet to make an official debut, though it is rumored that it could show up at the Frankfurt Motor Show next fall and might take some of its design cues from the Concept Universe.
Under the hood, the base version of the S90 will have a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that will feature both a turbocharger and supercharger in order to produce 316 ponies. An upgraded S90 with twin engine plug-in hybrid technology will also be available for a little extra cash.
On the inside, expect the S90 to feature a large touch screen interface that controls the car’s infotainment system.
Not a lot of solid details are available on the Volvo S90 as of this writing. The vehicle is expected to go on sale in 2017.
