The new 2016 Cadillac CT6 was unveiled at the New York Auto Show recently. The vehicle shows that Cadillac still has every intention of competing with the likes of Audi and Mercedes.
“It is one of the world’s lightest and most agile full-size luxury performance sedans, with dimensions and spaciousness on par with BMW’s short-wheelbase 7-Series, but the approximate weight, agility and efficiency of the smaller Cadillac CTS – which is lighter than a BMW 5-Series. The CT6 is lighter than the BMW 5-Series, 6-Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class,” Johan de Nysschen, Cadillac CEO, said.
The CT6 uses aluminum body panels on the exterior to keep the weight—and fuel costs—down.
The CT6 will launch with three engine options. The CT6’s high-end engine will pack a 3-liter twin turbocharged V6 that produces 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. The other options are a V6 pushing 335 horsepower and a turbocharged 2-liter four cylinder that produces 265 ponies. All the engines will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The CT6 is scheduled to go on sale at the beginning of 2016. Pricing details have yet to be announced.
