Alpina is celebrating 50 years of BMW upgrades by taking the B5 sedan and B6 convertibles and giving them the “Edition 50” treatment.
Thirty-three pounds of weight were taken off the exterior by simply getting rid of unnecessary pieces. An additional 37 pounds were shed by converting the cars’ exhaust systems from steel to titanium. The cars sit on 20-inch, 20-spoke aluminum alloy wheels.
The B5 and B6 are outfitted with black sports seats. Alpina badges are featured throughout the interior as the company’s signature on their automotive art.
Under the hood, the same 4.4-liter biturbo V8 powers the cars. However, it’s been tweaked to produce 600 horsepower. The cars will top out at 205 MPH and go from 0 to 62 in 4.2 seconds.
The Edition 50 B5 and B6 will be limited to just 50 examples each. They will be sold exclusively at Alpina dealers with a price tag of $129,000.
