An inn located in western Maine will be awarded to whoever can write the best 200-word essay and has $125 to spare.
Janice Sage owns the Center Lovell Inn, a bed and breakfast in an area known for cross-country skiing. She is planning to retire and is getting rid of the inn the same way she got it, through an essay contest with a $125 entry fee.
Those interested have until May 21 to submit their essay titled “Why I Would Like To Own And Operate A Country Inn.”
It is expected that 7,500 entries will be received, resulting in $937,000, which is just shy of the estimated $1 million the inn is worth.
