Richard Clarkson Studio has churned out an interesting take on the rocking chair called the Cradle Chair.

The Cradle Chair is essentially a free swinging basket lined with soft pillows. However, the design is based on meticulous research. The Cradle Chair uses psychology research in autism and kids with Rhythmic Movement Disorder (RMD) to create a piece of furniture that is designed to calm a person down at a very deep and natural level.

Each Cradle Chair is handcrafted in New Zealand with local wool and natural cotton. In fact, every piece used in building the Cradle Chair is as natural as possible, right down to the plant-based stain repellent used to treat the exterior wood.

The Cradle Chair has a price tag of $8,400.
