Qantas and Samsung have partnered up to do a trial run of incorporating virtual reality technology into the first-class cabin on a select few A380 planes.
“Samsung is immensely proud to be working with Qantas to deliver Samsung Gear VR entertainment technology through the airline’s first-class services, both in the air and on the ground,” Arno Lenior, Samsung electronics Australia chief marketing officer, said. “We believe Samsung Gear VR, one of the latest innovations from Samsung, will open new worlds for Qantas customers who experience the technology for themselves.”
The flights will use Samsung’s Gear VR headset to provide 360-degree interactive entertainment ranging from movies, artificial environments, and concerts.
The trial will run for three months.
