At CES 2015 in Las Vegas, Samsung and Yves Behar showed off the results of their recent collaboration, an ultra-HD, 82-inch, curved television dubbed the SW9.
The television uses nano-crystal technology. What this means is that the television will transmit colors of light through the nano-crystals. The pixel colors, or “quantum dots,” can then produce up to 64 times more color than conventional televisions.
An “intelligent SUHD re-mastering picture quality engine” will automatically detect the needed brightness of images and produce a color contrast intelligently without the need for manual adjustments. This makes the television 2.5 times brighter than your run-of-the-mill televisions.
Also of note is the television’s 21:9 aspect ratio. Most traditional televisions use a 16:9 aspect ratio. The 21:9 ratio is closer to what movie theater screens use.
Pricing information was not unveiled.
