Virtual Reality (VR) is quickly becoming the next big thing. Many tech companies are hoping VR might be the future of entertainment, so Samsung and Oculus have partnered up and are giving it a shot with the Gear VR.
The Gear VR is identical to the Oculus VR headset but instead of working with a computer or television, it connects to the user’s Galaxy Note 4, splitting its Quad HD display into the Gear VR’s two lenses to create a 360-degree experience with a 96-degree field of view.
The only downside is there simply is not a lot of content yet for VR systems. The reason being content has to be specifically made for VR given the 360-degree experience that makes the system unique. The Oculus app store will handle the content for the Gear VR but there are only a few games and entertainment options available. Among them are a few games and a Coldplay concert.
The Gear VR is currently available through Samsung’s website. It costs $200 and the only compatible phone is the Galaxy Note 4.
