It seems that the future of auto tech lies within self-driving cars. You cannot just throw a self-driving car on a busy interstate and hope everything goes well, though. You have to start somewhere. At CES in Las Vegas, BMW featured a prototype that can drop you off at a location and go park itself.

Utilizing four laser scanners to identify its surrounding, the BMW i3 is an all-electric vehicle that can park itself in any parking environment, be it a mall parking lot or a parking garage. The car does not use any GPS signals, so it will even be able to park itself in an underground parking garage without worry of losing signal.

The driver controls the vehicle’s various functions utilizing a smartwatch. For example, you can exit your vehicle and turn on the valet parking system with your watch and your car will drive away and park itself.

BMW did not announce any near-future plans to mass produce a vehicle equipped with a self-parking feature.
