Ferrari recently took the tarp off its new track-only vehicle, the Ferrari FXX K, at the Finali Mondiali event in Abu Dhabi.
“Unfettered by homologation and racing regulations, the FXX K will never be used in competition,” An official Ferrari press release says. “It was, in fact, developed to be completely uncompromising, incorporating technological innovations that will guarantee an unprecedented driving experience to the exclusive group of Client-Test Drivers with whom the Prancing Horse will roll out a test programme over the coming two years.”
Ferrari builds upon its LaFerrari hypercar by upgrading it to create the FXX K. The FXX K will top out at the same 217 MPH that the LeFerrari does, but beats its 0-to-60 mark by reaching 60 MPH in less than three seconds.
The FXX K produces a powerful 1,035 BHP with 848 ponies coming from a V12 engine and 197 BHP coming from an electric motor. The car will also have four driving modes. Qualify will be for maximum performance over a small number of laps. Long Run mode is designed to maximize performance in distance races. Manual Boost mode gives drivers a quick burst of power. Fast Charge is a mode where the engine can recharge the car’s battery.
The Ferrari FXX K was only available to Ferrari’s exclusive customers. We use the past tense “was” because the car is already sold out. It was limited to just 32 examples and each sold for $2.7 million.
Those who were lucky enough to be able to purchase the FXX K got their own team of engineers for three test sessions on a track and a set of “Ferrari test driver” overalls.
