Audi has plans in the works to replace the current Audi R8, but they are not simply going to let the current model fade into obscurity. Instead they have built the 2015 Audi R8 Competition, a variant  that is the German automaker’s most powerful vehicle to date.

Inspired by the R8 LMS racecar, the 2015 Audi R8 Competition is packing a 5.2 liter V-10 that has been re-tuned to pump out 570 ponies. All that power pushes the car from standstill to 60 MPH in just 3.2 seconds, with a max speed of 199 MPH.

“The limited-edition Audi R8 Competition is the closest road car to our R8 LMS ultra race car that has won virtually every race around the world,” Scott Keogh, Audi’s U.S. chief, said.

In order to further push performance, the R8 Competition has been fitted with a rear wing, wing mirror caps, side blades, front spoiler, and rear diffuser made from lightweight carbon fiber.

The 2015 Audi R8 Competition will be limited to just 60 cars, all set to be sold in the United States, with orders beginning later this month. Pricing will start at $202,850. More information should be available when the car has its official debut at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show.
