Mercedes-Benz’s newest concept car is what the company calls an SUC, or Sports Utility Coupe, and this SUC may be hinting at the future of Mercedes-Benz.

The Mercedes-Benz Vision G-Code utilizes several different technologies to reduce its fuel emissions. It runs on a hybrid engine of sorts. The back wheels are powered by electricity, while the front wheels are propelled by a turbocharged hydrogen combustion engine.

The Vision G-Code’s electric engine is not charged with a plug. The car’s paint job powers the engine. The silver finish absorbs energy from the sun like a solar cell and distributes it to the electric engine.

The Mercedes-Benz Vision G-Code is unlikely to leave the concept phase. However, the company does plan to incorporate some of the ideas experimented with in the Vision G-Code in future production cars.
