The luxury of flying on a private jet is nice but at the end of the day many travelers simply want to reach their destination as soon as possible. Airbus – in cooperation with the Aerion Corporation – is working on a jet that is slated to reduce travel time significantly.
“It’s a total game changer,” Brian Barents, Aerion’s vice-chairman, said.
The Aerion AS2 aircraft is currently being developed with the goal of rolling out a supersonic business jet by 2021. It would cut three hours off a flight from Paris to Washington and about 4.5 hours off a trip from San Francisco to Tokyo.
Aerion and Airbus are facing competition as other companies are also developing business-class supersonic jets, and they are all racing to be the first to roll one out.
