Texas Customization house Hennessey has taken the Lotus Exige and turned it into a freak of automotive power, and recently released details on their latest Frankenstein-esque creation that they are appropriately naming the Hennessey Venom F5.
This is not the first time that Hennessey has toyed with the Lotus Exige. Back in April Hennessey made headlines when they beat the speed record of the Bugatti Veyron—the fastest car in production. The Venom F5 will supposedly shatter that record, as Hennessey claims it will get close to the 290 mph mark.
The engineers at Hennessey have given the Lotus Exige entirely new bodywork that reduces drag and keeps the weight down thanks to carbon fiber and aluminum. They also gave it a 7.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 that has been tweaked to turn out 1400 bhp.
Hennessey will not have the car ready to test until next year, so we will have to wait and see if it shatters speed records.
They plan on making just 30 cars and hope to start delivery in 2016. If you want to purchase one, be prepared to pay $1.2 million.
