Surfboard designer Roy Stuart has crafted what is being called the most expensive surfboard in the world. The board is called the Rampant.
Stuart hand-selects timber and burnishes it by hand. The surfboard is made out of Paulownia wood and has secondary rail facets attached to create a high strength-to-weight ratio. In other words, the board is durable but light, weighing in at only 31 pounds. The 6-inch Vort-X tunnel fin allows the board to make turns and keep the rider in control. The wide tail allows it to pick up more speed than your typical surfboard.
Aesthetically, the board is coated in 23K gold and is laminated with a red resin to provide a smooth texture and buoyancy. Yellow resin is used to create the designs.
The Rampant is the result of Stuart’s two decades of testing and experience.
The world’s most expensive surfboard costs $1.3 million.
