Ferrari designer Ken Okuyama is working with JR East, a Japanese company, to bring a new luxury train to Japan by 2017.
The “Cruise Train” is going to be a 34 passenger train with 10 cars including the basics like a dining car and resident car. However, it will also features two cars with wall-sized glass observation areas and a lounge car for drinking and relaxing.
One of the big highlights of the design is the deluxe suite car. This two story car will features two beds on the first floor and the second floor will feature tatami mats.
JR East is spending 5 billion yen on the project, which is roughly equivalent to $50 million. There has been no officially announcement on ticket prices as of this writing.
