There has been an increasing push from luxury airliners to upgrade business class seats to incorporate the latest technology and maximum comfort. Many companies showed off their answer to this demand at the Aircraft Interiors Expo 2014 earlier this month. The big standout was a collaborative effort from BMW Design Works and Thales called the Immersive Business Class Seat.
The Immersive Business Class Seat combines technology like integrated touchpad controls and passenger controlled displays with maximum comfort to create an airplane seat that is a finalist in the Premium Class & VIP category at the 2014 Crystal Cabin Awards, the only international prize for aircraft cabin innovations.
The seat is designed to work in conjunction with products that Thales already offers like Thales Smart PIMs, which allows passenger to connect their electronic devices to the seat for wireless charging, music streaming, watching movies, or looking at personal documents on the seats ultra-high-definition display.
With the recent demand high-tech smart seats are getting from luxury airliners, expect to see thrones like this in business class soon.
