Swiss watch manufacturer Longines has launched the Avigation Oversize Crown, a watch designed for pilots. It features a 41 mm diameter black dial with white numerals, luminous, and pear-shaped hands. These design features are meant to make reading the watch in a dark cockpit easier. The bezel has a single index which can be turned in both directions. Its over-sized crown and winding stem enable a pilot wearing gloves good access to the bezel without coming into contact with the crown.
The watch comes with a mechanical, self-winding movement and is available in three stainless steel versions. The basic version shows the hours, minutes, and seconds. The second model has a second display for a different time-zone. The third is a single push-piece chronograph fitted with Longines’ exclusive column-wheel chronograph movement.
