The Mercedes-Benz 2013 SL is a lighter car crafted entirely from aluminum – the first time an all-aluminum body shell has been implemented in a series-production model. Aluminum provides superior rigidity, safety and comfort.
The all-new SL is powered by a 4.6-liter, direct-injected, twin-turbo, V-8 engine that produces 429 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque.
Standard are the PreSafe collision protection system, Attention Assist drowsiness detection system and Adaptive Brake, along with ABS, acceleration skid control and active yaw control. Also standard: Bi-xenon headlamps with active curve illumination, corner illuminating lamps, and adaptive high-beam assist. Available options are Distronic Plus adaptive cruise control; PreSafe Brake (autonomous partial and emergency braking to avoid an imminent collision); Active Parking Assist (automatically parks the car); and Hands-Free Access (automatically opens the deck lid when driver swipes a foot below the rear bumper).
The interior is beautifully designed with crosshair vents, a mix of leather, wood and carbon fiber, center console and squat transmission stalk. The roof can be in standard glass or in the Magic Sky Control.
