Three years ago VanMoof gave the world the 10 Electrified e-bike, which the Dutch company dubbed the world’s first intelligent commuter bicycle. And now the manufacturer has released its newest e-bike, the Electrified S.
The S stands for “Smart” and VanMoof was just that when it made its upgrades to create the new Electrified S model. Like the 10, the S has a 250W front hub motor that helps its rider’s pedaling power, but the new e-bike also has a “Boost” option that is perfect for adding that extra oomph to get started up a hill or get going while facing a headwind.
The Electrified S has an electronically-limited top speed of 20 mph and a range of up to 75 miles depending on the settings, which is more than double the range of the 10 due to a higher-capacity battery hidden away in the downtube.
An integrated electronic locking feature has been added to the new bike, which allows owners to lock and unlock a hardened steel cable lock with a smartphone via an app or the included Bluetooth remote. And if you ever forget to lock your bike, the S can be tracked with the bike’s GPS coordinates.
The S also has a quieter motor and is lighter, weighing in at only 40.5 pounds, and has a touchscreen display on the top tube that offers information like battery life, the power level, and distance traveled.
VanMoof is offering the Electrified S for the pre-order price of $2,615, and the new e-bike will retail for around $3,350.
