Husqvarna was Steve McQueen’s favorite motorcycle builder, and is known for its dominance in the off-roading world. However, the Swedish brand has shifted its attention to creating a new line of street-legal motorcycles with its new Vitpilen 701 concept launched at EICMA 2015.
The Vitpilen name is a tribute to the Silverpilen off-road bike of the mid-1950s and means “White Arrow.” The 701 will be based on KTM’s 690cc single-cylinder engine and produces 67 hp.
Husqvarna also revealed its plans to send two smaller versions of the Vitpilen to production as well. Last year Husqvarna launched the line at EICMA with the Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401 concepts. The Vitpilen 401 is a 125cc model and is expected to reach production as early as 2017.
